International Award Winning Portrait Photographer
For over 17 years as a wedding and portrait photographer I have been actively involved in both local and international professional photographic associations. My memberships have enabled me to participate in many advanced training opportunities such as lectures, seminars, and in-depth workshops. In addition to the fellowship that comes with befriending so many other like-minded artists, I have gained invaluable insight and skills by entering the photographic competitions put on by my associations. The rigor, discipline and standards required to compete with the best photographers around the world has one main benefit for me: IT MAKES THE PHOTOGRAPHS I CREATE FOR MY CLIENTS THAT MUCH BETTER!!!
While I have entered my fair share of prints that have received poor scores during the live judging, each one of those came with valuable feedback by the esteemed judges, all professional photographers in their own right who have achieved excellence in their own fields of photography. This feedback only fueled my desire to learn more, try harder, do better.
As a result of this feedback loop, I have accumulated many local, provincial, and national awards. Yet my most treasured victory was for an album of my daughters that I submitted to one of the best photographic competitions in the world - Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI).
During the 2008 WPPI photography competition I won 1st Place and an Accolade of Excellence Award for one of my albums that I entered in the non-event informal category. Here is the press release from WPPI.
